Bolus Obstruction of Gut After Use of Hydrophilic Colloid Laxatives

Abstract

Three cases of intestinal obstruction directly attributable to the use of a hydrophilic colloid laxative were reported. A survey of the literature has revealed only 2 similar cases. The pathological process in this type of obstruction is discussed, and some suggestions are made with regard to its management.
