A short synthesis via a common intermediate of N 1- and N 8-monoacylspermidine conjugates

Abstract

N ¹ - and N⁸-Substituted spermidine (1) conjugates formed with different oxygenated cinnamic acids occur in many higher plants and also in some micro-organisms. A short and efficient synthetic route to such compounds (14)–(17), (21), and (22) is described by way of the suitably protected spermidine derivative (2) which undergoes selective deprotection and monoacylation.
