Abstract
When gastroesophageal reflux results in the metaplastic mucosal changes known as Barrett's esophagus, serious complications can result, including adenocarcinoma. Early diagnosis, aggressive therapy, and close surveillance are important and may help to avoid malignant degeneration. Dr Ellis discusses current knowledge and controversy about the management of this disorder. Keywords
