Elastic self- and interaction energies of dislocation jogs

Abstract

An elastic calculation shows that there is an interaction between two joga or kinks on an infinite straight dislocation line. For jogs sufficiently far apart, the interaction potential varies as the reciprocal of the distance between them, and as the product of their lengths. Formulae are also obtained for the self energies of jogs.
