Abstract
The authors used the following tests of morphine-like activity of 15 comp''ds. related to diphenylethylamine: depression of righting reflexes of rats (Eddy and Howes, 1935): elevation of blood-sugar level in rabbits; general effects and B. P. alterations in cats and finally, clinical studies. In man, aB-diphenylethylamine (M 3) and B-hydroxy-aB-diphenylethylamine (M 4) exhibited analgesic properties, but only M 4 in doses of 200-400 mg. appeared devoid of undesirable side effects. The synthesis of 8 compounds studied is described. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
