Urinary Excretion of Beta Aminoisobutyric Acid (BAIBA) in Irradiated Human Beings.

Abstract
The excre-tion of beta aminoisobutyric acid was studied in human beings after accidental exposure to doses between 21 and 276 rads. This unique amino acid (believed to be a degradation product of thymine) was present in greater than normal amounts in 5 individuals receiving in excess of 163 rads. The amount excreted was correlated with the dose received.
