Abstract
This article gives an overview of methods applied for surface treatment of nickel-titanium shape memory alloys in medical applications. The different methods are classified into the three major groups: removal, oxidation and coating. The principle behind each group of methods is explained and the pros and cons of the different methods are discussed. Keywords
