Abstract
([plus or minus])-alpha-Acetoxy-n-docosanoic acid and ([plus or minus])-alpha-acetoxy-n-tetracosanoic acid were prepared with melting points of 79.4[degree] and 82.3[degree], while acetylphrenosinic acid has a m.p. of 66.5[degree]. Phrenosinic acid was prepared in crystalline form giving an X-ray photograph similar to mixtures of alpha-hydroxy n-fatty acids. This confirms the report that phrenosinic acid is a mixture. Keywords
