Abstract
The intravenous administration of glucose is followed by a fall in plasma concentration of triglyceride which is maximal 30 to 60 minutes postinjection. This fall in triglyceride is associated with an increase in the ability of the plasma to bring about lipolysis of triglyceride in vitro. This increase in lipolytic activity of plasma following glucose administration could partially explain the fall in the circulating level of triglyceride noted after glucose administration. This effect is present in both males and females but is more pronounced in the former.
