Effect of Thiouracil and of Thyroidectomy on Liver Catalase Activity of Animals With and Without Implanted Tumors

Abstract
Administration of Thiouracil to rats and mice, and thyroidectomy of rats caused increase in catalase activity of the liver. An hypothesis is suggested of a possible role of the anterior pituitary in causing this change. Normal mice inoculated with Ehrlich as cites tumor showed the usual fall in catalase activity and thiouracil-treated mice inoculated with this tumor showed a corresponding reduction in catalase activity.
