Abstract
An iodine photodissociation laser has been operated at 600 Torr by adding inert gas to the laser medium. The inert gas does not quench the inversion. Pressure broadening of the 1.315‐μ emission line with an inert gas is a simple and effective method of increasing the energy storage capacity of the laser for short‐pulse amplification. Keywords
