Abstract
We describe a new method of ultrasound investigation of he distal male urethra. With this procedure the periurethral structures are outlined, and the extent of periurethral scarring can be shown. In a retrospective study only strictures with significant periurethral scars recurred after internal urethrotomy. Patients without prominent scars had no stricture recurrence at the previous location. This new method allows for the appropriate decision to be made easier for optimal treatment of urethral strictures.
