Abstract
By means of the zymogram technique variations of leucine aminopeptidase (LAP) were examined in human sera and organ extracts. A series of LAP enzymes differing in their electrophoretic mobilities and contents of sialic acid was found. There were organ specific differences intestine, placenta and kidney showing complex and typical patterns. Individual (LAP) variations were observed in intestine, placenta and spleen. Specific LAP serum enzymes appear in pregnancy and disease. In a series of more than 700 individual sera no electrophoretic variations were observed in the normal LAP enzyme of serum. The origin of the multiple forms of LAP is briefly discussed. Keywords
