POLYDACTYLISM IN MICE

Abstract
A 6-toed condition of the posterior feet in a highly inbred strain of control mice occurred 8 times in the original stock, 23 times in pure stock mutants, and 6 times in the progeny from outcrosses between mutants and 4 unrelated strains in which the 6-toed character has never been observed. The 6-toed condition does not breed as a simple recessive.
