The oxidation of l-amino acids by Mytilus edulis

Abstract
The amino acid oxidase was prepared as homogenates of the digestive gland. No evidence of a D-amino acid oxidase was obtained. A number of L-amino acids were oxidized-alpha-aminobutyric, norvaline, norleucine, leucine, the common basic, aromatic, and S-containing amino acids; not oxidized were alanine, valine, isoleucine, serine, threonine, proline, aspartic acid, glutamic acid. A similar enzyme was found in Cyprina islandica but not in Pecten maximus or Mya arenaria.
