A note on the urinary uroporphyrin in acute porphyria

Abstract
Uroporphyrin was isolated from the fresh urine of a case of acute porphyria and shown to be type I uroporphyrin. No other uroporphyrins were found. Preliminary treatment of the urine by boiling in weakly acidic soln. until maximum development of color led to a 7-fold increase in the uroporphyrin fraction, but this newly formed fraction consisted of several different uroporphyrins and pure uroporphyrin I could not be isolated from it.
