The recent development of effective immune suppressive therapy has prompted renewed interest in renal transplantation. At the University of Colorado Medical Center a number of patients with chronic renal disease who had failed to respond to medical therapy, including hemodialysis, have undergone kidney grafting procedures. Since most of these patients have some degree of retinopathy, a clinical study was undertaken to learn the effects of renal transplantation upon the ocular disorders.
