Abstract
The local density of state (LDOS) of d electrons for atoms at and near the Sigma =5, (013) tilt boundary in iron was calculated by the recursion method or a simulated model structure. The characteristic feature of the LDOS at the boundary is that the densities of states near the centre of the band increase while the peaks on either side of the bulk band shift inwards. These features disappear in the bulk metal one or two atomic layers away from the boundary. Keywords
