Collective Nuclear "Breathing Mode" Model with Application toMonopole State

Abstract
A new collective model of the nuclear breathing mode is presented which avoids the usual assumption of a constant nuclear ground-state density. The 20.4-MeV state in is treated as an example of such a breathing-mode state.
