Abstract
A small but carefully controlled group of 62 patients with chronic hepatitis was divided into 3 groups each treated for 2 yrs. over an 8 yr. period of time. One control group of 23 patients was treated by the methods currently in use in 1938; a 2d control group of 19 cases was treated by a "Patek" regime; a 3d group of 20 patients was treated by the author''s method. This latter consisted of 2 gs. orally daily each of methionine and choline, a maximal protein, high carbohydrate, low fat diet ("basic" diet). In addition, daily injns. of the author''s special liver extract fortified by vit. B complex were given with multi vit. oral capsules. The author''s treatment resulted in a sharp reduction of mortality, morbidity and disability rates.
