COMPARISON OF METHODS OF PREPARING THIN-TISSUE PLANT LEAVES FOR AUTORADIOGRAPHY

Abstract
A study was made of methods of dehydrating plant tissue containing Co60 and Mn54 for preparing autoradiographs. The methods included dry-press, dry-ice, freeze-dry, and propylene glycol techniques. Little difference was noted in the distribution patterns of Co60 and Mn54 in soybean leaves as shown by autoradiographs prepared by various methods. The dry-press method for thin-tissue leaves seems to be the most practical of all procedures tested.
