Abstract
The wave equations of the gyrotropic guide with a normal applied DC field are set up and solved. Dielectric boundary conditions are imposed leading to the secular equation. The mode spectrum is computed for a layer designed to simulate a pure YIG guide on a GGG substrate with air above. The guided waves are found to be linearly polarised in the plane parallel to the DC field and elliptically polarised in the plane normal to the field. Keywords
