HEMOGLOBIN CONCENTRATIONS, RED CELL COUNTS AND ERYTHROCYTE VOLUMES OF COLLEGE WOMEN OF THE NORTH CENTRAL STATES

Abstract

Studies of Hb concs., erythrocyte counts and cell vol. tests are presented on young ?? from 6 colleges and universities located in the North Central States. The mean Hb conc. was 13.4 g./100 ml. blood with a standard error of 0.017. Mean erythrocyte count was 4.56 [plus or minus] 0.009 million cells/cmm. and mean cell vol. was 40.0 [plus or minus] 0.07%. Normal standards for Hb conc., red cell counts and cell vols. must be interpreted as a range of values which is wider than the ranges recorded by earlier studies.
