THE CIRCADIAN VARIATION OF IMMUNOREACTIVE LIPOTROPHIN AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO ACTH AND GROWTH HORMONE IN MAN

Abstract
There is a clear circadian rhythm of plasma immunoreactive LPH [lipotropin] in man with the trough occurring between 2200 h and 0300 h and the peak between 0700 h and 0800 h, immediately after waking. At all times circulating LPH and ACTH levels follow each other closely. No correlation was observed between LPH levels and either plasma GH [growth hormone] or the stage of sleep.
