Quantitative Results in the Prediction of Insect Abundance on the Basis of Biotic Potential and Environmental Resistance1

Abstract

One may not assume that a change in insect population has been caused by a change in some environmental factor unless it is known that when the environment is constant the population is constant. Results from constant population experiments are compared with observations on the European Corn Borer.
