Abstract
A rubber nipple is inserted into the gastric fistula and connected with a manometer. This method confines mechanical stimulation to the site of the fistula. Shifting of the site of the reception during chronic experiment is impossible. The steady rise in stomach pressure during quiescence may be due to continuous secretion or increased tonicity of the gastric musculature. The fluid contents of the stomach may be passed into the duodenum during the hunger period.
