Uricosuric Effect of Chlorprothixene

Abstract
IN the course of a survey of the serum uric acids of patients in a state mental hospital it was noted that the mean level of 14 patients receiving the tranquilizing drug chlorprothixene¶ was significantly lower than the mean for the remainder of the patients whether or not they were receiving drugs. The mean serum uric acid for the entire population was 5.4 mg. per 100 ml. All but 1 of the patients taking chlorprothixene had levels below this figure, and the mean was 3.2 mg. per 100 ml.
