Abstract
A new surgical technique is presented for the treatment of the idiopathic hemifacial spasm. It consists in exposing the nerve in the third portion of the Fallopian canal, performing a longitudinal neurotomy, and inserting a silicon rubber sheet through it to avoid nerve regeneration. Comments are made concerning the etiology, diagnosis and surgery of this disease. Three cases are presented along with the results obtained. Keywords
