Abstract
The contractile response to substance P in-vitro is greater in strips of guinea-pig bladder freed of mucosa than in normal strips, while the response to field stimulation, histamine or KCl is unaffected by the presence of mucosa. Substance P has no inhibitory effect on histamine-induced contractions of the guinea-pig bladder. These findings support the possibility that the presence of mucosa may reduce accessibility of substance P to the muscle layer. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
