Effect of Atomic Interaction Potential on Defect Production in Metals

Abstract
The cascade of displaced atoms in metals, induced by high energy radiation, has been investigated, with the assumption of a screened coulomb interaction between atoms. The problem was treated stochastically on an IBM 650 electronic computer for several different models. The comparison of our results with those for which a hard sphere interaction has been used shows only a slight decrease in the expected number of atomic displacements.Keywords
