CHROMATOGRAPHIC METHODS IN THE STUDY OF A POLYSACCHARIDE

Abstract
A sulfuric acid hydrolysate of a polysaccharide from a strain Leuconostoc mesenteroides. was developed on filter paper strips with phenol-water and with n-butanol-pydidine-water. The strips were cut into 20 segments; the segments from a number of strips were combined and leached in dist. water. These solns. were tested for carbohydrate by Dreywood''s anthrone reagent and for uronic acids by napthoresorcinaol.
