The Application of New Chemical Techniques in Clinical Research of Coronary Artery Disease

Abstract
A method is described to measure accurately the levels of the nitrate and nitrite ions simultaneously present in blood. The principle of this method is to remove first the nitrite ion as its diazonium salt. The nitrate ion is then reduced to the nitrite ion, which can be quantitatively determined. The nitrite ion is detected spectrophotometrically from the color produced by the coupled diazonium salt. The sensitivity of this method is about l/10th of a part nitrite ion/million of solution.
