Abstract
Data for the content of Cl, Br and I in samples of barley and wheat grown in different geographical areas of Norway are presented. In the case of Br and I, samples from coastal districts show significantly higher values than those from the interior, while a similar trend is not evident for Cl. The Cl/Br and Br/I ratios of the cereal grains are much higher than in corresponding soils, indicating that some kind of discrimination may take place in the plants, or that the availability from the soil is different for the 3 elements.
