Abstract
To thirteen patients with essential hypertension timolol was given in a single-blind trial. A dosage of 15 mg three times a day produced a fall in diastolic blood pressure in all patients. The mean diastolic blood pressure was reduced by 15 and 14 mm Hg in the lying and standing positions respectively. Changes in the systolic blood pressure were variable but a significant mean reduction occurred. Keywords
