Abstract
With the abundance of information and materials now available, elementary schools can ill afford to be without programs designed for the early identification and treatment of dyslexia and related reading problems. Although such programs require interdisciplinary teamwork, a major role is played by the alert teacher who spots the symptoms and can help create and initiate treatment procedures. This paper discusses behavioral symptoms, diagnostic tests, and programs for prevention and remediation of dyslexia. Careful consideration of these aspects of the problem will help classroom teachers in working with dyslexic children. Keywords
