Kidney Phosphatase

Abstract
Kidney phosphatase was markedly diminished in patients who died from chronic nephritis, an average value of about 1/6 of the normal adult value being obtained. In other cases where there were destructive or degenerative changes in the kidney the phosphatase content was also diminished. Corresponding results were obtained with rabbits dying with acute nephritis induced by lethal doses of uranyl nitrate. Experimental results support the suggestion that there is a correlation between phosphatase content of the kidney and functional activity of that organ.
