ZINC AS A NUTRIENT IN PLANT GROWTH

Abstract

The history of Zn as a plant nutrient and fertilizer or spray material is briefly discussed. The distribution of Zn deficiency in citrus in particular is discussed with regard to possible influencing factors in the soil and in the plant. The role of native plants in an area in gathering Zn and leaving it in an available form for introduced plants which could not obtain it from native forms in the soil is outlined in relation to cropping problems.
