Abstract
Zn uptake in the eulittoral species F. virsoides (Don.) J. Ag. and L. prolifera (O. F. Mull.) J. Ag. from the Adriatic Sea was studied under conditions of different external concentrations of Zn and various temperatures. The metal uptake is influenced by temperature and metal concentration in both spp. The ability of metal uptake is higher in Fucus and particularly enhanced at 20.degree. C. The relative uptake in relation to the initial concentration of Zn in the thallus was higher in Enteromorpha. In this species the concentration factor was higher than in Fucus at temperatures of 5.degree. C and 10.degree. C and at the lower external concentrations of Zn.
