Abstract
A comparative study of advertisements in Ebony, a leading Negro magazine, and Life shows that differences in appeals are based upon differences in socio-economic levels of the two audiences. Ebony's ads reflect the dichotomy which exists between Negro middle-class aspirations and status reality.
