HISTOCHEMICAL STUDIES ON THE DISTRIBUTION OF OXIDATIVE ENZYMES IN THE CEREBELLUM OF THE RAT

Abstract
A detailed study on the histochemical distribution, at the intracellular and intercellular level, of succinic dehydrogenase and cytochrome oxidase among the various constituents of the different layers of the cerebellum, has been carried out. In Purkinje cells the oxidative enzymes show identical cyclic activity with each other. The granular cells are negative for both oxidative enzymes but they give a reaction in the glomeruli. The distribution of these enzymes differs considerably in other non-neuronal elements. The results have been discussed with reference to function of various cellular and noncellular constituents of the cerebellum of rat.
