Abstract
A review of the literature on group psychotherapy is presented. There is ample evidence in the recent literature of the effectiveness of group psychotherapy in all psychiatric conditions. Group psychotherapy may be separated into two types—the repressive-inspirational, and the analytic—with various degrees of combination of the two. Both types are effective, but at the present time a critical evaluation of the results is impossible. At the present time, due to the war, it is particularly desirable that further work along this line should be done. The psychoneuroses and psychosomatic conditions offer the most fruitful field for group therapy.
