Hemoglobin Values in Pennsylvania Mass Studies in Human Nutrition

Abstract
Hb values were obtained by the Newcomer method on 2400 persons including urban and rural groups of 100 families each and 1492 school children in 4 different type communities. Persons with known chronic or temporary illness were not included. Values were more nearly uniform in rural than in urban groups, preschool children showed much lower values in urban than in rural families and children in an economically depressed community had exceptionally low values. Individuals in all groups were far below the avg. of the group.
