Abstract
Transmission over 1000 km of a 10 Gbit/s signal at 1597 nm is demonstrated in a recirculating loop using standard fibre and wideband dispersion-compensating fibre in the pre-compensation configuration. It is shown that dispersion maps optimised for 1550 nm can be successfully used in the L-band, removing the need for separate band dispersion compensation. Keywords
