Abstract
During the examination of some 800 oocytes prior to in vitro fertilization, 12 exhibited evidence of parthogenetic activation. Four of these 12 underwent cleavage, the cleavage of one being normal. In vitro parthenogenesis is compared with 2 forms of parthenogenesis observed in vivo, namely ovarian teratomas and hydatidiforms moles.
