Water Lettuce: Nature, Problem, and Control

Abstract
Water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes L.) was susceptible to applications of 6,7-dihydrodipyrido(l,2-a:2[image],l[image]-c) pyrazidiinium salt (diquat). The most satisfactory rates of application were 1.0 to 1.5 lb/acre of diquat. The addition of a surfactant did not increase the effectiveness of diquat. Several other chemicals gave unsatisfactory control of water lettuce.
