Abstract
Samples of spoken and written language obtained from professors of speech who had written extensively were analyzed for the frequency of the four major parts of speech and for two grammatical ratios which measure degree of qualification. Five of the six measures employed differentiated the two forms of discourse at statistically significant levels.Keywords
