Abstract
In eukaryotes, genomic DNA is tightly packed into chromatin, and this structure must be disrupted to allow endogenous genes to be transcribed. In their Perspective, [Fry and Peterson][1] discuss new work ([Soutoglou and Talianidis][2]) describing how chromatin-remodeling enzymes can regulate different steps along the pathway leading to transcription.
