Abstract
THE purpose of this progress report is to review the present status of knowledge of thyroid-gland function in pregnancy; to discuss recent studies utilizing newer investigative technics to refocus interest in, and advance understanding of, the interrelation of normal and abnormal thyroid-gland function in pregnancy; and to evaluate the possible contribution of such observations of nature's "grandest experiment" to the knowledge of thyroid physiology and disease.Thyroid Function in Normal and Abnormal PregnanciesAnatomic and Histologic StudiesA relation between the thyroid gland and the female sex glands was appreciated by the ancients, who noted an increase in goiter formation . . .Keywords
