Abstract
Tremendous advances have been made in the use of internal prostheses in recent years and many of the procedures are making a very significant contribution to health care. The basic understanding of the interaction between prostheses and tissue, which is so essential for the further development of implant surgery is, however, still far from complete and requires concentrated effort if these advances are to be made. Keywords
