Mass of the Higgs Boson

Abstract

The stability of the vacuum sets a lower bound of order $\alpha {G_{\mathrm{F}}}^{-\frac{1}{2}}$ on the Higgs-boson mass. For the simplest SU(2) ⊗ U(1) model, this lower bound is $1.738\alpha {G_{\mathrm{F}}}^{-\frac{1}{2}}$, or 3.72 GeV.
